Billy Corgan has been back in the news a bit as he’s recently decided to charge $40 per three months to have access to additional videos about his music-making process. I won’t give a lifetime summary of his work here, check the internet for details if you never were a Smashing Pumpkins fan. The key planet in his chart for my money is Mercury ultra-afflicted in Pisces in the 6th. In detriment and fall, even more powerful because of its station. Those who know his lyrics through the years can follow this thinking. Mercury for our 42-year-old guitar star is conjunct Deneb Adige (clever intellect and ingenious nature that’s quick learning) and contraparallel Altair (many difficulties, misfortunes and strange experiences, bad for partnership, and more). Though in truth I’m not a huge parallel and contraparallel fixed star user.

What does Mercury rule in Billy’s chart? The 1st and 10th house - self and career, the public eye. Now I know that Billy’s studied with a lot of well-meaning people and is a veteran of metaphysical pursuits. He’s taken great effort in meditation and searching for inner peace, compassion, finding samadhi through stillness and other methods, etc. but it sure looks like he hasn’t internalized it so much to date. I don’t know him, and here I am just typing away random temperament and personality twiddlings without knowing the man on a personal level. But recent concertgoers in England tell of him continuing to berate fans, walk off early, castigate for not buying an EP when it’s not yet for purchase, etc.

Billy Corgan has lots of water zodiac signs in his chart - an extreme sensitivity to people and needing emotion to be driven in action. Let’s keep it simple here - Virgo rising with Mercury super-afflicted along with Uranus on the Asc = an unusual afflicted dude. He intellectualizes situations and has eccentric touches. This is plain to see. The moon in a key culminating gauquelin sector -> proclivity and statistical significance in generating writers. And again, his Moon in Gemini leads back to ruler Mercury which is so afflicted. Wikipedia: ” In late 2004, Corgan published Blinking with Fists, a book of poetry. Despite mixed reviews, the book debuted on the New York Times Best Seller list. It was one of the first books ever written by a rock-star artist that ever got in the NYT Best Sellers list.”

“It is my goal to far exceed the normal documentary process and use the moment to create something that invokes synchronicity, electricity, and faith into a moment that is ever unfolding” , says Billy about his new website membership venture. Does that sound like some software company’s marketing babble more than a rock star? It sounds like Uranus on the Ascendant at least . Hmm, it’s worth a try to see if your devoted fans will shell out some bucks to get some extra footage. But with mass social networking sites giving so much free material, and many bands giving out tons of free videos, bonus music and photos and more, this seems a bit odd. He doesn’t need to do it for the money, yeah? But it’s a capitalistic venture, so if people sign up, go for it I say. I know that he’s getting some intense reactions from this particular marketing angle, however. Note that he does have Mars in the 2nd in its favorite sign. And he certainly is resourceful and motivated with making money, at least this go-around eh (if not misguided as 2nd house ruler Venus is afflicted in Aries in the 8th)?

The South Node axis in 2nd in Scorpio = from a karmic perspective, he certainly needs to keep focusing on loftier spritual goals. NN in Taurus is emphasizing his need to establish some stability and peace in his life and to get away from his penetrating feeling of hurt and abuse (he struggled with depression a lot of his life as well as OCD and suicidal thoughts, which he says stem from childhood abuse and personal anxieties).

There’s much more to unlock in his chart upon which I could elaborate. And I’m sure other expert natal readers can dive in as well. But we’ll stop here for now. I wish Billy well in love, life, and finding inner peace!

I received a request from an anxious person who was very interested in knowing when the delivery service for a number of (nice) products he was waiting for would arrive. The service people were then going to spend some time installing - the most important part of it all. He had eagerly been waiting on these for some time and got finally word that the service would arrive later that day. He’d been jacked around by them a bit before so he wanted to see if this was really the real deal this time. The chart was cast at the time I looked at and understood the question.

In horary astrology I always try to keep it as simple as possible. Sure you can concoct a really detailed and crazy story to fit in the aspects, the planets here and there, the receptions, and all the rest. And you will probably be incorrect too. I’ve been in that boat myself. It’s always a learning process. There’s no need to add a bunch of junk in there when it doesn’t apply to the question at hand.

I also love being very practical with astrology. There’s a ton of people that can wax poetic about personality and progressions. That’s cool and all. For me I get more mileage out of the traditional practice. With it there are so many helpful and tangible ways to use the chart to answer pertinent and relevant questions in people’s immediate life. That immediate feedback and knowledge is nice to have.

Back to the chart. Lord 1 the Sun is he asking the question. He’s in the 6th house of servants. He’s actually in the house of those he’s waiting on. That’s not the greatest start to see… He’s at their mercy and indeed has been since he’s been waiting patiently and then some. Plus look at reception…

Lord 6 Saturn is not anywhere close to the Ascendant. The people are in his service and will be doing work for him with the things that are arriving. So to me it’s a 6th house situation, not a 3rd house “waiting for a package” one. However, it is 3 degrees applying as a semisextile to the Asc as Saturn is retrograde. That’s a bit of a stretch for a “traditional” astro dude. The Moon is not making any aspects to either. Lord 1 and 6 aren’t connecting. Lord 6 isn’t coming to his house at House 4 either.

Yes the Moon is near a conjunction with Mars. Mars is Lord 10 here and no, these items don’t have anything to do with needs for his business. You could say that the POF and Pluto (I keep the outers in the chart most of the time to see what’s going on) so close together in the 5th doesn’t bode well either for an immediate delivery. This was more of a “fun” purchase set you could say. And no, there was no tracking info on these packages to find out that way.

I told him that I really didn’t think it would come that day. Not really what he wanted to hear. Asked for a guess, impatiently, as to when it might seriously get there, I took a very general option and said ( the only real stretch I could see then) 3 days. I called it that as the 3 degree Saturn connection with Asc seemed a bit grasping, but it was something, better than nothing I figured. It was a Friday too, so I figured give it the weekend and see if it all arrived Monday.

And that was what happened. In this case, the exact date I’m calling a lucky guess. The main point was seeing if the stuff would arrive on that Friday or not. And that question was answered properly as No. I’ve gotten timing wrong on a number of occasions, as that is much tricker in some instances to figure out days/weeks depending on question context. But this one worked out okay.

I’m in the process of writing a large ebook for my own personal summary detailing my specific and exact methods which have been resulted in a profitable 10 out of 12 months in 2008. It’s for serious people only, I may or may not offer it later, if so not gonna be cheap, it’s a powerful tool for a unique advantage. Drop a line if you’re interested. You don’t need to know a lot about astrology signs or fancy zodiac knowledge to use this. You don’t need to have a set of free phone psychic readings to figure out who will win the games either. Just applying systematic methods and a bit of wisdom will stack the odds in your favor over time.

In general, the bigger the game, the more likely the chart predictions works out. But the bottom line is that is still works on a day to day basis in the major sports leagues. Then once you figure out the predicted winner, you then have to marry that knowledge with a sense of proper betting strategy. Anyway, Pitt was favored (Pitt -7) so they get the astrology signs on 1 and 10. Arizona gets 7 and 4. So Pitt is Sun and Venus. Arizona is Saturn and Mars. 1 and 7 are the core ones to focus on. 10 and 4 count too but typically not as strong or influential. Chart is at the exact kickoff time. The NFL is really consistent about kickoffs through the year. Usually it’s 0-2 minutes from the actual scheduled time. Monday Night games and the Super Bowl are way off and you have to either guess if you’re going to bet in advance, or do live in-game betting to wait for the known time.

First order of business, is there any big action at the angles? Not really. The Sun (Pitt) is dominating house 7 (Az) if it were closer, but 5.5 degrees is way too far. You’ll see I’ve set up my wheel so that all antiscia are the black icons on the inside of the wheel. Here the anti-Sun is trapped in house 4 within 1 degree. This is of decent importance, but being inside house 4 (or 10)I’ve found isn’t as detrimental as being inside 1 or 7. So this hurts Pitt a bit here.

Moon aspects during the game? I only use 1st through 4th harmonics. Moon trine Pluto in 1.5 degrees. Moon with the outer planets is shaky, I’ve never found consistent results, but I bias a bit for helping the underdog. No notable antiscia aspects either. The Moon is opposite POF in about 5.5 degrees. Too bad for the Cardinals. I usually max out at 5 degrees. Further than that and it’s a no-go.

The real kicker is Neptune conjunct antiPOF. AntiPOF plays a huge role in determining game outcomes. And over thousands of games I’ve found Neptune conj AntiPOF (same as anti-Nep conj POF) has been very consistent in really helping the favorite win the game. Perhaps not cover the spread, but win outright.

So what we had here was frankly not a great betting setup. A couple small factors helping AZ, one big factor barely missing to help AZ, and one strong factor helping Pitt. Nothing super strong to convince either way, but I decided to take Arizona +7 (hey it’s the big game, fun to have a little bit on it) as it appeared they had enough helping to keep it tight, but to play safe as the Nept-POF connection was definitely looking to help Pitt find a way to win. As we know, Pitt did squeak by thanks to some generous officiating, and won 27-23 in the last minute, good for the Arizona +7 bet. Had the game started around 6pm - 6.05pm Az would have had a great chance to win. As it was they still nearly pulled it off.

Aries: quick-start energy, no questions asked, take action, intensely focused in the present.

Taurus: maintaining what is already here, stubborn, slow-moving, sensual, very physical.

Gemini: thinking about all sides, playful energy, more uncomfortable with emotions.

Cancer: nurturing, emotionally bonding with love, focused on family, trying to please all.

Leo: creative, generous, wanting attention and approval from lots of people, honest.

Virgo: service to others, thinking carefully, wanting precise perfection but struggling to do it.

Libra: relationships, exhibiting harmonious behavior and beauty, decision challenges.

Scorpio: deep and altering changes, inward focused, intense energy underneath the surface.

Sagittarius: looking for truth through enthusiasm, lack of tact, independent, fun-loving at any expense.

Capricorn: structured and responsible, work and discipline, ambitious, learning how to have fun.

Aquarius: group identity and association, philosophical and questioning, harder to take action.

Pisces: healing and sensitive, very receptive to all emotions, losing the ego, less focus.

Most interestingly, reading birth charts was done  in its truest and most original sense to predict particular facts about one’s life. How long would the person live? What would his occupation likely be? How many children would she have? The birth chart has these hard facts there to discover by the traditional astrologer. Today most people think reading the birth chart is about finding out about psychology, behavior and the way people react and create. Yes this is part of it. But there is an incredible amount of data to glean from the natal chart. Natal astrology is actually one of the most difficult concepts to truly master. Horary Astrology – Horary means “of the hour”. Do you know a person with a Aries, Leo or Sagittarius Sun? Then you may notice that these people are a little more intensely emotional, whether that be in happiness or anger. They may likely be more honest. And they may likely be more likely to take action quickly and with no holds barred. These are generalities, of course. Other planets in a person’s birth chart can intensify or mute this fire Sun sign as well.

An earth sign is quite different than fire. Earth is much more slow and grounded. Much more practical and even-tempered. And less likely to have a wide range of emotions., and more likely to be stubborn and set in their ways. This goes for Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn Sun signs. Again, if a person with a Taurus Sun happened to have other planets in their chart that had lots of fire – say Mars in Aries and Moon in Leo, then you would see a better blending of emotion and action. If this same Sun in Taurus person instead had a Moon in Virgo and Mars in Capricorn, then you would be much more likely to see this earth energy in action in their thoughts and personality.

An air sign such as Gemini, Libra and Aquarius are very much mental and logical. Think about air in general. It can move quickly and easily over lots of ground. Air signs are aware of all the sides of an issue and can take on the greatest perspective when it comes to seeing ideas clearly. So someone with a Sun in one of these signs might be strong in communication skills and discovering new ideas. However, they may be less likely to effectively take action on these great concepts.

And the Sun is all about personal direct power. So this is a combination that tries to balance the intensity of direct power with lots of logic and changing decisions.

So you can see the excitement and the many combinations that help form the interesting mix of people and personalities in the world. This simple example of the Sun in different astrology signs shows the variety of ways that a person’s individual ego energy can be filtered by being in different signs. There are nine more signs that the Sun can be in. Now when you start to combine this with the other planets in a person’s birth chart, you can really begin to see all the little differences and shades that each planet and sign energy can bring.
